The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Reveal a Fresh Divinity, Calling it Their Largest RPG to Date

The buzz surrounding the recent awards show has been intense, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley posted a mysterious image of a desert monolith. The mystery has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is creating a brand-new Divinity game.

Announced as Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer packed with striking imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the very unleashing of hell.

A Different Direction

Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian clarified that a third Original Sin game to its venerated RPGs is not currently in development.

However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the core franchise. This choice of words implies that the team is likely building a more action-oriented experience instead of another tactical title. At this moment, this is speculation, as only a teaser video is available.

The Legacy of Divinity

The Divinity series is widely praised and arguably it sparked the contemporary revival of deep computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for detailed worlds, branching plots, and deep class systems—elements that subsequently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its universe is classic fantasy, what makes Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.

While numerous modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is packed with specialized paths that are viable by choosing a particular class or origin with a personal story.

The series is also famously permissive, allowing players to find creative solutions throughout the entire experience. Virtually all objectives can be approached in a variety of manners, sometimes in unexpected fashion.

  • You might find an answer because you heeded something a dog told you.
  • Or, you could defeat a foe by teleporting a glob of lava in a clever way.

A New Chapter Begins

It is precisely these elements that have cemented the series to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games ever made. Now, fans can get ready for a new entry in this legendary franchise.
