'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and the defender promptly converted the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an incredible turnaround given Swansea had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win secured a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after they changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the past five games, including home and away games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
